No Pizza Like Freschetta

 I consider myself one of the luckiest bloggers to try the FRESCHETTA® By the Slice for free. Yes, for free! Got my free coupon from the mail last week from Freschetta and I didn't waste time to claim my free pizza in our local grocery store.

FRESCHETTA® By the Slice comes in four different flavors: BBQ Recipe Chicken, Vegetable Medley, Chicken, Spinach & Mushroom, and Six Cheese Medley. Unfortunately, Fry's has only 2 flavors available. I grabbed the Six Cheese Medley and the Chicken, Spinach & Mushroom pizzas. I got two because I wanted to share it with my husband. We decided which of the two flavors would the other one will try. He picked the Chicken, Spinach, & Mushroom, while I settled on the other flavor. After all, I love cheese and trying six kinds of cheese in a pizza would be an exciting palate experience.

The Moment of Truth

Instead of using the traditional oven, I went ahead and used the microwave. Peeking through and watching the cheese melted made me drool. I had to microwave the pizza for additional 25 seconds because I wanted all the cheese fully melted. The first bite was a "wow!" The combination of cheeses (shredded & diced mozzarella, provolone, cheddar, fontina, Romano) and sauce are so rich that I couldn't wait to throw another bite. If someone prepared it for me, I couldn't tell that it's frozen. The pizza tasted fresh just like pizzas ordered from a traditional pizza place. I wished though that the crust was crunchier. But what I like about the crust is that, it's not dry and not too thick; toppings are abundant and divine.

My husband simply loved and quite satisfied of what he tried. Although the white sauce was a little bit surprising to him (he didn't know that what he got has white sauce instead of red), he said that the flavor went perfectly with the toppings. This is what my husband has to say about the pizza:

"When I tried the Freschetta by the slice pizza, I looked at it fairly critically so as to give the best review I could for you. I was surprised to note that my piece had a white sauce instead of a tomato sauce. I was already looking forward to a new microwave pizza experience. Most tomato based sauces on these things are terrible, but this sauce was rich and tasty. The crust had a little bit of crispiness to it. I was surprised, my experience being a chey, rubbery crust or a doughy gooey crust in past microwave pizza experiences. but every once in a while and especially at the edge I got a bit of a crunch. The toppings were good, Chicken, spinach and mushroom with I think some onion and garlic too. I actually enjoyed the slice of pizza more than I expected to, after all of my previous microwave pizza experiences."

I love that FRESCHETTA® By the Slice has an all-cheese flavor. People who love cheese will absolutely appreciate this pizza. The size of the slice is the perfect size for me. I like the idea of "by the slice" because in our home, we usually throw away pizza leftovers. A regular size of pizza pie is just too much for 2 adults at home. But with "by the slice" for $1.99/each, nothing is wasted and is always ready to eat in 4 minutes!

Grocery List Must-Have

After the taste test, we are absolutely going to include FRESCHETTA® By the Slice in our grocery list. This is perfect when we feel lazy and don't feel like moving in the kitchen to prepare a meal, or have that yearning to eat pizza.
